Learn More About the BCN Survey. We're Recruiting Bird Monitors now for the 2024 season.
Becoming a BCN Survey monitor is one of the best ways that you can make a valuable contribution to birds in your area. Commitments vary by county, but may be as little as visiting a site twice in June. Birders visit a series of usually off-trail points in a preserve and stand at each point for five minutes recording all the birds they see and hear.
Sites are visited year to year to monitor changes in bird population trends at a site and contribute to region-wide trends that help inform land managers, conservationists, and birders about how well species are doing and how well management practices are working.
