The Savannah Sparrow is a fairly common to common breeder in the Chicago Wilderness Region, uncommon to rare farther south. Breeding habitat includes dry grasslands, moist grasslands, and abandoned fields. This species is fairly well monitored by the BCN Survey. Trends indicate that this species is stable.
