YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO

The Yellow-billed Cuckoo is an uncommon to fairly common breeder, more common to the south. Preferred habitat includes dense shrublands and mature mixed and riparian woodlands. The significant increase shown should be taken lightly. Data is very poor on this species and most long term studies show strong, significant declines. Inconsistency in the sites monitored for this species has also made accurate trend assessments increasingly difficult. The recent arrival of gypsy moths in the region may have a significant effect on future trends. Photo: © Jerry Kumery
