at Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie

Trip & Workday

Give Back to Birds Field Trip - (8:00 AM to 10:30 AM)

On the automobile bird tour, we will learn about the project from Lee Witkowski and enjoy the beautiful prairie, and the prairie birds. A spotting scope would be helpful since sight lines on a prairie are much longer than in woodlands.

Give Back to Birds Workday - (10:45 to 12:30 PM)

After the morning automobile bird tour, we will enjoy a complimentary snack before we begin to plant and weed in the native seed propagation beds. These beds provide seeds used to restore more prairies. This stewardship activity will be followed by lunch.  An optional tour of the horticultural building will be available after lunch.

This Saturday trip/workday will take place rain or shine.  People of all ages can find a way to help. Dress in layers, with sturdy shoes. Bring work gloves if you have them, but extra are available.

Brown Bag Lunch - (12:30 PM)

Bring a sack lunch if you would like to picnic after the workday. Goodies for dessert will be provided!
