  • Bird Population Trend Analysis & Monitoring workshop: (.PDF)
    On Sep. 9, 2006, a program will be held (in Hammond, IN) to share results obtained from our analysis of breeding bird data gathered during the BCN Survey. Also includes a field trip, breakfast, and monitoring workshop. (7/12/06).

  • Budget Cuts Threaten Illinois' Natural Resources:
    Layoffs and major cuts at the Illinois Department of Natural Resources threaten our state parks and Illinois' ability to protect habitat and wildlife. (2/14/05).

  • BCN Survey - Monitors Needed:
    As the summer 2005 season approaches, BCN is looking for more volunteers to help monitor birds.  Please spread the word at your local clubs. (2/14/05).

  • Chicago Region Birding Trail - Draft:
    BCN is working with the Chicago Department of the Environment to produce a birding trail map for the Chicago area. While the map is in production, feel free to use the map info when planning your birding trips. (12/9/04).

  • Chicagoland Important Bird Areas:
    On October 6, 48 Illinois IBAs were announced. Some of the top sites for many of our state's Bird Species of Conservation Concern, and for concentrations of waterfowl, raptors, wading birds, shorebirds and wintering birds were selected. (10/13/04).

  • Save Illinois' Endangered Swainson's Hawks:
    Developers threaten the breeding grounds of the endangered Swainson's Hawk in Illinois. (1/28/04).
