____ DUPAGE COUNTY ____________________________________

At the Morton Arboretum on February 16, a ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK was seen
flying over the Lake Marmo area.  On February 22, the MERLIN was seen
again flying around in the fields west of P-24 and P-25.

On February 22 at FermiLab, at least 15 GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE
were seen in the buffalo field.

At Greene Valley on February 22, the NORTHERN SHRIKE was seen again in
the scrub west of the Thunderbird Camp near the main parking lot.

A FOX SPARROW was seen in a backyard near Herrick Lake this past week.

____ KANE COUNTY _______________________________________

Birds seen on the Fox River this week include COMMON GOLDENEYE, COMMON
MERGANSER, AMERICAN COOT, AMERICAN BLACK DUCK, LESSER SCAUP, and one
GREATER SCAUP.  A BALD EAGLE also continues to be seen along the Fox
River between St. Charles and Carpentersville.

____ UPCOMING FIELD TRIPS ______________________________

Saturday, February 28, 2004, 8:00 a.m. Starved Rock - LaSalle County.
We will again check the Illinois Waterways Lock & Dam for eagles,
gulls, and waterfowl. Be sure and bring walkie-talkies and scopes if
you have them. We will meet at the Illinois Waterways Visitor Center at
the lock and dam. Take I-80 west and exit at Utica (178) south. Go
through town to Dee Bennett Rd (just before the river) and turn left
(east) and continue to the Visitor Center which will be on your right.
