____ UPCOMING FIELD TRIPS ______________________________
Saturday, February 7, 2004, 9:00 a.m. Fox River Walk. Chase away the
winter doldrums with a brisk walk along the Fox River. We'll be looking
for waterfowl and woodland birds such as Brown Creeper and Red-breasted
Nuthatch. Meet in the parking lot at Blackhawk Forest Preserve in South
Elgin. The preserve is located on the east side of Rte 31, between
North Ave and Lake St. As your leaders are Jim and Kate, you know
there's a good possibility we'll end up at Krispy Kreme or Starbuck's!
Dress for the weather and be sure to wear warm, waterproof footgear.
Leaders: Kate and Jim Frazier, (630) 406-1535.
Sunday, February 8, 2004, 8:00 a.m. Lyons Woods and other Lake County
Locations. We will explore a number of habitats in the Lake Co. area,
starting at Lyons Woods where we hope to find winter finches and
possibly crossbills. We will also check the lakefront for waterfowl and
gulls. Lyons Woods is located on Blanchard Rd off Sheridan Rd in Beach
Park, IL. Take I-94 North to Belvedere Rd and exit east. Turn
left/north on Sheridan Rd. About 1.5 miles north of Greenwood Ave.,
