____ DUPAGE COUNTY __________________________________

The Hermit Warbler has NOT been reported at the Morton Arboretum in
Lisle since Friday, January 17th. If you see this bird again, please
report it.

On February 1st at Blackwell, six COMMON MERGANSERS and a GREAT BLUE
HERON were seen along the stream north of the lake.

At Springbrook Prairie on February 1st, the NORTHERN SHRIKE was seen
once again south-east of the main parking lot.

On February 1st at Elsen's Hill, 3 WINTER WRENS, 22 YELLOW-RUMPED
WARBLERS, 3 HERMIT THRUSHES, and 10 BROWN CREEPERS were seen in various
areas throughout the preserve. Other sightings included a RED-BREASTED
NUTHATCH, BELTED KINGFISHER, SHARP-SHINNED HAWK, and five species of
sparrows including a WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW.

A WINTER WREN and a HERMIT THRUSH were seen at Atten Park in Wheaton.

____ KANE COUNTY _____________________________________

BALD EAGLES continue to be seen near the Main St. bridge along the Fox
River in Carpentersville. An unidentified swan was also seen north of
the bridge.

Two SNOW GEESE are still being seen on the Fox River in Elgin.

____ FERMILAB SIGHTINGS _______________________________

A BALD EAGLE was seen flying over Pine Street on January 27th. COMMON
MERGANSERS and COMMON GOLDENEYE were seen on the Main Ring Lake on
January 29th.

____ FIELD TRIPS _____________________________________

Saturday, February 8, 2003, 7:00 a.m. Mississippi River Eagles.
On this all day trip we will visit several sites along the Mississippi
River to see Bald Eagles, other raptors, waterfowl, gulls, and other
birds. Limit 20 people (8 cars) -- please register with the leader and
call for more details.
