On March 10th at Elsen’s Hill, six wood ducks, a red-breasted nuthatch,
a fox sparrow and a Cooper’s hawk were seen.

At Pratt’s Wayne woods on March 11th, canvasback, hooded merganser,
gadwall, coot, American wigeon, northern shoveler, green-winged and
blue-winged teal, northern pintail, scaup species and a possible
redhead were seen at the pond east of the model airplane field. A
pied-billed grebe was seen at the main pond.

At Elsen’s Hill, woodcock have been seen displaying from March 11th
through March 15th. A sharp-shinned hawk was seen on the 12th and on
the 15th both ruby-crowned and golden-crowned kinglets were seen.

A purple finch was seen at a feeder in Downers Grove on March 12th.

At FermiLab on March 12th, 3 hooded mergansers were seen at the DUSAF
Lake. Red-breasted and common mergansers were seen at Lake Law.

Three turkey vultures flew over Willowbrook Forest Preserve on March
13th.

White-winged crossbills were seen at a feeder in Downers Grove on March
15th.

At McKee Marsh on March 15th, eastern meadowlark and northern shovelers
were seen.

On the Prairie Path north of Wheaton-Warrenville High School, a
Carolina wren was spotted along with four pine siskins on March 16th.

At Elsen’s on March 16th, fox sparrow and woodcock were seen along with
ten common goldeneyes that flew over.

Three northern pintails and an eastern meadowlark were seen at McKee
Marsh on March 17th. On the 18th four gadwalls and a few northern
shovelers were seen and on the 19th three swamp sparrows were seen.

At Waterfall Glen on March 19th, a red crossbill was seen on the
service road south from Bluff Road.

On March 20th at Mallard Lake four red-breasted mergansers were seen.

On March 22nd at Greene Valley Nature Preserve, eight woodcocks were
seen.

A bufflehead was spotted at Pratt’s Wayne Woods in pond at the corner
of Stearns and Powis Road on March 23rd.
