On December 30th at Springbrook Prairie, a short-eared owl was seen along with three northern harriers. The short-eared owl has since been relocated several times, the last report being January 5th at the southwest corner of 75th street and Book Rd. in south Naperville.

Also on December 30th, a rough-legged hawk was seen at Greene Valley Forest Preserve.

On December 31st , a northern saw-whet owl was seen at the Morton Arboretum. There have been no new reports of the owl being relocated.

At Hidden Lake on December 31st, two hooded mergansers, two black ducks and four fox sparrows were seen.

A snow goose was seen at the West Branch Reservoir on December 31st.

Also on December 31st , four white-winged crossbills were seen near the four columns area at the Morton Arboretum. They have been relocated in this area as recent as January 5th .

At the Morton Arboretum on January 1st, white-winged crossbills, a yellow-bellied sapsucker and two hooded mergansers were seen .

A merlin flew over a house in Wheaton on January 2nd.

On January 5th, two hooded mergansers were seen at Hidden Lake and a hooded merganser was seen in a backyard in Downer’s Grove.
