This is the DuPage Birding Club Hotline for Tuesday, February 20, 2001 at 10:30pm. The last update was on January 16th.
Highlight birds included in this report are:
HOODED MERGANSERS SAW-WHET OWL RED CROSSBILL LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL MUTE SWANS BALD EAGLE MERLIN NORTHERN SHRIKE
Here are the reports:
HOODED MERGANSERS were found in Geneva on January 20th.
The SAW-WHET OWL continues at the Arboretum in the vicinity of the Four Columns. It was reported on January 16th and February 18th. A single RED CROSSBILL was seen in this area on February 4th. Also on the 4th, a MERLIN was seen near Lake Marmo.
A NORTHERN SHRIKE was seen on February 11th along the entrance road to Greene Valley.
On the 20th, a NORTHERN SHRIKE was seen in Kane County on Thatcher Road about halfway between McNulty and Beith Roads in Virgil Township (grid A6, page 27 of Delorme).
MUTE SWANS were seen in St. Charles on January 20th.
At Fermilab, a LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL was seen on AE Sea on February 11th. On January 30th, a BALD EAGLE was seen at the north end of Eola Road. A MERLIN was seen at Eola and Batavia Roads on January 20th.
