Here are the reports:

LAPLAND LONGSPURS were seen at the Buffalo Feeder at Fermilab on Thursday.

The VARIED THRUSH continues to be seen at the yard in southern Naperville. The address is 27 W 141 96th Ct. and is just south of 95th. The feeder area in the backyard, where the bird has been seen, is not visible from the street.

2 BALD EAGLES, a HOODED MERGANSER, and 5 MUTE SWANS were found along the Fox River between Geneva and St. Charles on Wednesday.

A MERLIN was found at Hidden Lake on Saturday.

Another MERLIN was found in Kane County on Sunday southeast of Maple Park on Watson Rd between Keslinger Rd (on the south) and IL Rt. 38 (on the north). The site is west of Route 47. The bird was perched on a power pole approximately 100 yards north of Keslinger Road. An apple orchard occupies the east side of the road and it was found south of the first house on the west side of the road.

A female HARLEQUIN DUCK was found on the Fox river just south of the dam in South Elgin on Monday. It was not relocated. A pair of HOODED MERGANSERS and a MUTE SWAN were also present.

A CAROLINA WREN has been present in a yard in St. Charles all winter.

I have a report of a PEREGRINE FALCON on Wednesday at the intersection of Army Trail and Bloomingdale Roads. Another one was seen in Warrenville last week.

The next field trip will be on Sunday, January 7 at 7:30 am. This is the traditional January tour of the Des Plaines River between Romeoville and Joliet looking for waterfowl and various raptors. Meet at the Bolingbrook Menard's parking lot on IL-53, two blocks south of I-55 on the east side. Dress warmly.

The next meeting of the DuPage Birding Club will be on January 11 featuring author Joel Greenberg speaking on the "Birder's Guide to the Chicago Region"
