This is the DuPage Birding Club Hotline for Friday, January 29,
1999 at 9:30pm.
Tomorrow's field trip for wintering birds in the corn fields is
still on.
From DuPage County:
2 MUTE SWANS, along with a blue phase SNOW GOOSE and a few COMMON
MERGANSERS were seen at the pond at Route 53 and 83rd Street on
Wednesday.
3 MUTE SWANS and 6 GRACKLES were seen flying over a yard in
Naperville on Wednesday. Also seen here were SONG and WHITE-
THROATED SPARROWS.
A RED-HEADED WOODPECKER was seen at Argonne on Tuesday.
2 SAW-WHET OWLS were found on Hemlock Hill at the Arboretum on
Sunday and Tuesday. 5 BLUEBIRDS were seen along the river on the
east side on Monday.
A BALD EAGLE was seen flying over Maple Grove on Tuesday.
From Kane County:
2 tagged TRUMPETER or TUNDRA SWANS were seen along Randall Road
south of Batavia on Sunday.
From Fermilab:
The COOT continues to be found at Swan Lake or near the
footbridge to Kidney Pond. The last report is from Sunday. Also
seen on Sunday were a RING-NECKED DUCK and 3 HOODED MERGANSERS.
BLACK DUCKS were in the Buffalo Wallow and COMMON MERGANSERS were
seen flying over.
An immature BALD EAGLE was seen flying over Eola Road on Tuesday.
