This is the DuPage Birding Club Hotline for Thursday, January 21,

1999 at 9:15pm.



From DuPage County:



At Waterfall Glen, 2 FOX SPARROWS and 2 WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS

were found on Sunday on the service road southwest of the Bluff

Road entrance. 5 COMMON MERGANSERS were seen along the Des

Plaines River



At the Arboretum, on Saturday, at least one YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER

was found on the east side, between the formal garden and the

pine collection. A ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK was seen in the main

parking lot. On Friday, a RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH was seen and a

GREAT BLUE HERON was found along the river.



At Hidden Lake, on Saturday, there were 4 or 5 GREEN-WINGED TEAL

and 4 COMMON MERGANSERS. The resident all white CROW continues

to be reported.



At Greene Valley, on Saturday, the NORTHERN SHRIKE was still

being seen just inside the entrance off of 79th Street. A

RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH was at the feeder at the guard residence

and a FLICKER was at the end of road past the guard residence.



At Pratt's Wayne, on Friday, there was a NORTHERN SHRIKE at the

east end of the dog training fields and a COMMON SNIPE along

Brewster Creek. 3 GREAT HORNED OWLS were also found.



We had an unconfirmed report of a THREE-TOED WOODPECKER from a

yard in Naperville from Friday.



From Kane County:



On Saturday, LAPLAND LONGSPURS, HORNED LARKS and about 2 DOZEN

SNOW BUNTINGS were seen on Saturday along Meredith Road north of

Route 47.



In St. Charles, on Saturday, HOODED MERGANSER, GOLDENEYE, BLACK

DUCK and 2 RUDDY DUCKS were found.



From Fermilab:



On Sunday, there were 5 ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS, SNOW BUNTINGS,

LAPLAND LONGSPURS and HORNED LARKS.



At Swan Lake, on Thursday, a COOT was seen near the footbridge

over the canal connecting Kidney Pond with Swan Lake. On

Wednesday, a BLACK DUCK and RING-NECKED DUCK were found. On

Sunday, the COOT was on Kidney pond along with 3 HOODED

MERGANSERS. Last Thursday, the RING-NECKED DUCK was on Swan Lake

with a pair of HOODED MERGANSERS.



A SWAMP SPARROW and FLICKER were at the Education Center feeders

on Thursday.



A COMMON SNIPE was found along Road A on Sunday.



On Friday, a likely immature BALD EAGLE was seen near the High

Rise.
