This is the DuPage Birding Club Hotline for Friday January 23,

1998 at 8:30pm.

From Dupage County:

At the Arboretum - WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS continue to be seen.

The last report I have is from Monday. The places they are

being seen include Hemlock Hill, the west end of Lake Marmo and

the pines to the east of the Hedge Garden.

Just to make things interesting, 7 crossbills were seen behind an

apartment complex in Wheaton on Wednesday near the College of

DuPage. They did not stay, but obviously pines outside the

Arboretum are also worth a look.

A HERMIT THRUSH was found at the Arboretum on Monday. A CATBIRD

was found near the Visitor Center on Sunday.

A WHITE-THROATED SPARROW was seen at a feeder in Lombard on

Wednesday.

At Springbrook Prairie - a SHORT-EARED OWL was seen again west of

Book Road by Aero Estates on Monday.

At Greene Valley - 6 BLUEBIRDS were seen on Monday along the road

on the western border near the campground.

At Pratt's Wayne - a NORTHERN SHRIKE was seen at the Model

Airplane Field on Saturday.

A BROWN THRASHER and PINE SISKINS was seen in a yard on Saturday

in Glen Ellyn near the Willowbrook Wildlife Haven.

A YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER is coming to a feeder in Wayne on a

daily basis.

Two ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS were seen at Fermilab last week.

From Will County:

400-500 SNOW BUNTINGS, LAPLAND LONGSPURS and HORNED LARKS were

seen in a field at the southwest corner of 199th and Weber Road

on Monday.

A MARSH WREN was at Lockport Prairie on Monday in the cattails on

the south side of the road. Lockport Prairie is located in

Lockport on Route 53. It is across from Stateville Prison.
