From DuPage County:

SNOWY OWLS keep popping up in the Naperville area. Between Christmas and New Years, a Snowy Owl was seen in the Fox Valley shopping center area, in the field south of the Metlife Building. On Friday, the 10th, a Snowy was seen on Diehl Road west of Route 59 near the Prairie Path crossing.

At Argonne -a YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER and a NORTHERN FLICKER were found on the 6th.

At Mallard Lake - a THAYER'S GULL and a couple of GLAUCOUS GULLS were found on the 4th.

At Fermilab - a SNOW GOOSE was found on the 11th.

From Kane County:

In South Elgin, below the dam - a HORNED GREBE, a WOOD DUCK, and a MUTE SWAN were seen on the 4th. On the 12th, 11 MUTE SWANS, a SNOW GOOSE and 3 to 4000 CANADA GEESE were found. 6 COMMON MERGANSERS and an adult GREAT BLACK-BACKED GULL were found on Tuesday. The gull may also be found at the dump in South Elgin.

At Black Hawk Forest Preserve - 2 MUTE SWANS were found on the 4th.

At Ferson Creek Fen - SWAMP SPARROWS were seen on the 4th.

From Will County:

9 species of ducks were seen on the Des Plaines River on the field trip on Sunday. GADWALL were everywhere. PINTAIL, WIGEON and a BALD EAGLE were over the Lockport Locks. A SHOVELER was at Brandon Locks in Joliet.
