From DuPage County:
COOPER'S HAWKS were seen recently in yards in Naperville and Warrenville.
Denis Kania's feeder, also in Naperville, still has REDPOLLS. If you would like to visit, please call him at 708-961-5364.
A GRACKLE and RED-WINGED BLACKBIRDS were seen in a yard in Woodridge this week.
PINE SISKINS, ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS and NORTHERN HARRIERS have been seen at Dragon Lake.
HORNED LARKS and MUTE SWANS flew over Greene Valley Forest Preserve last weekend. A ROBIN was also seen there.
HORNED LARKS were also seen at the Arboretum last week as well. Also at the Arb, 5 EASTERN BLUEBIRDS were found near parking 5 on the east side. PINE SISKINS were found all over and 5 RED-BREASTED NUTHATCHES were on Hemlock Hill.
A BROWN CREEPER was found at Brewster Creek Marsh Pond last Saturday.
A KINGFISHER was found at Swan Lake at Fermilab last Sunday.
A flock of about 8 COMMON MERGANSERS were on the DesPlaines River at Waterfall Glen Forest Preserve in the southeast corner, on Monday afternoon. Two GREAT BLUE HERONS were in the same area.
A GREAT BLUE HERON was at Hidden Lake on Wednesday morning.
From Kane County:
On the Fox River in South Elgin, 2 pair of COMMON GOLDENEYE, one RING-NECKED DUCK and 3 MUTE SWANS were seen last Saturday.
An albinistic RED-TAILED HAWK was seen near the South Elgin Landfill last week.
From Cook County:
On the 8th, a GREEN-WINGED TEAL was seen at Indian Lake at the Brookfield Zoo.

On Saturday, March 16. Kate and Jim Frazier lead a field trip for new birders. We will start at McKee Marsh at 8AM and go on from there depending on the conditions. NOTE - This is a trip for adult BEGINNING BIRDERS. We will be enthralled by Chickadees, Cardinals, Red-winged Blackbirds, Eastern Bluebirds, Ring-necked Ducks and Meadowlarks. The next meeting of the DuPage Birding Club will be on March 14.
The ever-popular DBC annual auction will be held on that date. More details will follow as we approach that date.
Social time starts at 7PM and the meeting convenes at 7:30PM. The location is the Faith Lutheran Church at 41 N. Park Boulevard in Glen Ellyn.
To get to the meeting at Faith Lutheran Church, take Roosevelt Road to Park Boulevard in Glen Ellyn. Go north on Park Boulevard for 2 blocks and you will see the church on the east side of the street. The parking lot and entrance are in the rear. The meeting is in the church hall on the lower level.

The main parking lot of Dragon Lake Forest Preserve (also known as Springbrook Forest Preserve) is located in Naperville on Plainfield-Naperville Road south of 75th Street on the west side of the street. (R-6)
Hidden Lake Forest Preserve is located north of Lisle just south of the intersection of Route 56 and Route 53. It is on the east side of Route 53. To get to the location to view the river, walk north from the parking lot, across the rock bridge to the high point that overlooks the mudflat and river. (P-7)
To get to Greene Valley Forest Preserve, take Route 53 to 75th St. south of Lisle. Go west on 75th St. to Greene. Go south on Greene to 79th St. Go west on 79th until you see the sign for the Youth Camp and Trail-head on your right. Turn left. Follow the road to the parking lot. (R-7)
The Morton Arboretum is located on Route 53 in Lisle, just north of I 88. There is a charge for entry. (P-7)
