From DuPage County:

A flock of about 10 HORNED LARKS were seen at Fermilab on Sunday in the field east of the Security office by the Buffalo Feeders. Also, in the field northeast of the Security office, across the road, 3 SHORT-EARED OWLS were seen on Saturday evening, at dusk. One bird was seen at this location earlier in the week. 4 SNOW GEESE were in Swan Lake, a dark morph RED-TAILED HAWK was seen along Eola Road south of Batavia Road and a TURKEY VULTURE was seen near the Oxidation Pond, all on Sunday.

A GREAT BLUE HERON and NORTHERN HARRIER were also reported this week.

Please stay on the road or park in the parking lot when viewing the Short-eared Owl. Do not go wandering around in the field. The birds are visible from the road.

Four ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS, a NORTHERN HARRIER, a KINGFISHER and a NORTHERN SHRIKE were found at Dragon Lake on Saturday. The shrike was on the east side of Plainfield-Naperville Road, south and east of the main parking lot. 2 SHORT-EARED OWLS were seen on Wednesday west of Book Road, 1/10 of a mile south of 75th St., near the old farm house.

A lone REDPOLL and seven PINE SISKINS were at a feeder in Naperville this week.

A COOPER'S HAWK was seen on Friday and Saturday in the Summerlake subdivision in Warrenville.

Two female HOODED MERGANSERS and a male GOLDENEYE were at Eldridge Park in Elmhurst on Friday.

A YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER was seen at a feeder in Naperville on Sunday.

As many as 40 REDPOLLS have been coming to Denis Kania's feeder in Naperville since Christmas. If you would like to arrange a visit to see them, call Denis at 708-961-5364.

A PURPLE FINCH was seen on Friday at a feeder at Four Lakes Village.

A ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK and a dark-phase RED-TAILED HAWK were seen at Greene Valley this week

From Kane County:

REDPOLLS and SISKINS are being seen at a feeder in St. Charles.

South Elgin, below the dam, has had a few interesting sightings this week including a TUNDRA SWAN along with 7 or 8 MUTE SWANS and SNOW GEESE on Sunday and a TURKEY VULTURE and immature BALD EAGLE on Monday.

From Will County:

SNOW BUNTINGS were seen on Sunday in Plainfield on Plainfield-Naperville Road South of 127th Street and about 1 mile east of Route 59 near the north entrance to the Lakelands subdivision. REDPOLLS were also seen at a feeder in this area.

At Isle a la Cache last weekend, a SNOW GOOSE, WOOD DUCK, BLACK DUCK, GADWALL, COMMON and RED-BREASTED MERGANSERS, and a SWAMP SPARROW were found.

Under the bridge in Lockport last weekend, RING-NECKED DUCK, LESSER SCAUP, COMMON GOLDENEYE, COMMON MERGANSER and AMERICAN COOT were seen.

At Brandon Locks last weekend, NORTHERN SHOVELER, GADWALL, LESSER SCAUP, GOLDENEYE, BUFFLEHEAD, HOODED MERGANSER, COMMON MERGANSER, RUDDY DUCK, AMERICAN COOT and a KILLDEER were seen.

A SHARP-SHINNED HAWK was seen in Joliet on Saturday.
