Greetings


This is the DuPage Birding Club Hotline for Tuesday, February 14
at 9:30pm. To make a report, please call 708-406-1535.


Contents include:
new reports,
a recap of previous reports,
recaps from neighboring hotlines,

and, at the end, directions.


The Fox River in South Elgin near the dam is turning into a
moderately good spot. Seen on February 12th and 14th was a
GLAUCOUS GULL among the HERRING GULLs. And on the 14th, a LESSER
BLACK-BACKED GULL was also found. On February 8th, COMMON
MERGANSERS, HOODED MERGANSERS, COOTS, COMMON GOLDENEYE and
KINGFISHERS were seen. On the 13th, COMMON MERGANSERS, GOLDENEYE
and KINGFISHERS were seen.


2 PURPLE FINCHES were seen at a feeder near the parking lot at
Shabbona State Park pm February 4th.


A YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER and 2 YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS were seen
at San - Nauk Forest Preserve on January 31st. A YELLOW-RUMPED
WARBLER was seen here again on February 12th.


Here is a recap of reports from the last tape:


HORNED LARKS were at the buffalo feeder at Fermilab on February
12th. NORTHERN HARRIERS were also seen at the lab.


We have a couple of feeder reports. A RUBY CROWNED KINGLET has
been coming to a feeder in Batavia as of February 12. Also on
the 12th, a possible harbinger of migration, was a PURPLE FINCH,
seen at a feeder in West Chicago.


A HERMIT THRUSH was seen on February 11th at the Morton
Arboretum. It was seen near a pile of dirt in parking 23 on the
west side. Also seen at this spot were JUNCOS, GOLDFINCH, BROWN
CREEPER, WHITE-BREASTED NUTHATCHS, CARDINALS and BLUE JAYS.
Several flocks of CEDAR WAXWINGS were also seen elsewhere at the
Arboretum. A RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH wasfound near the visitor
center


The WOOD DUCK was still at the Fermilab Oxidation pond as of
February 11th.


The Chicago Hotline as of February 13th is reporting Barrow's
Goldeneye and a Snowy Owl. For more information, call 708-671-1522.


The All Points Bulletin for this week includes:


Swans
Snow Geese
Scaup
Mergansers
Brewer's Blackbirds
Rough-legged Hawks
Red-breasted Nuthatches
Kinglets
Snow Buntings
Lapland Longspurs
Pine Siskins and any other winter finches.


The All Points Bulletin is a listing of the top 10 birds that are
possible now and for which we'd like to get reports.
