Greetings

This is the DuPage Birding Club Hotline for Sunday, February 12
at 8pm. To make a report, please call 708-406-1535.

Contents include:
new reports,
a recap of previous reports,
and the All Points Bulletin.

HORNED LARKS were at the buffalo feeder at Fermilab on February
12. NORTHERN HARRIERS were also seen at the lab.

We have a couple of feeder reports. A RUBY CROWNED KINGLET has
been coming to a feeder in Batavia as of February 12. Also on
the 12th, a possible harbinger of migration, was a PURPLE FINCH,
seen at a feeder in West Chicago.

Here is a summary of reports from the last tape:

A HERMIT THRUSH was seen on February 11 at the Morton Arboretum.
It was seen near a pile of dirt in parking 23 on the west side.
Also seen at this spot were JUNCOS, GOLDFINCH, BROWN CREEPER,
WHITE-BREASTED NUTHATCHs, CARDINALS and BLUE JAYS. Several
flocks of CEDAR WAXWINGS were also seen elsewhere at the
Arboretum. A RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH was found near the visitor
center

COMMON GOLDENEYE and COMMON MERGANSERS were seen along the Fox
River in South Elgin on February 9. Also seen along the Fox
River Trail were WHITE-BREASTED NUTHATCHES, DOWNY and RED-BELLIED
WOODPECKERS.

The WOOD DUCK was still at the Fermilab Oxidation pond as of
February 11.

The All Points Bulletin for this week includes:

Swans
Snow Geese
Scaup
Mergansers
Brewer's Blackbirds
Rough-legged Hawks
Red-breasted Nuthatches
Kinglets
Snow Buntings
Lapland Longspurs
Pine Siskins and any other winter finches.

The All Points Bulletin is a listing of the top 10 birds that are
possible now and for which we'd like to get reports.

That concludes this report. If you have any birds to report, any
updates on any of the birds mentioned, questions or comments, or
if you need clearer directions, please call the report line at
708-406-1535. If you get the answering machine, please leave you
name and phone number. A transcript of this report has been
posted on the Internet. Thank you for calling the DuPage Birding
Club Hotline.
