This Spotted Towhee was discovered on the Christmas Bird Count on December 18, 2003. The adult male bird continues to be seen this winter in a small neighborhood on the west end of Wheaton. Local homeowners said that they have had the bird coming to their feeders for a couple months. Spotted Towhees normally winter along the western half of the United States as far east as Missouri, but occasionally one will stray into Illinois and other eastern states.
