LThis male Surf Scoter (nearing adult plumage) showed up at West Branch Forest Preserve in late March and continues to be seen into early April.  The recently stocked lake may be an attraction to this bird which is usually only seen along the lakefront.  All species of scoters are accidental visitors to DuPage County that have only been observed a couple times in the past twenty years.
