This juvenile Sharp-Tailed Sandpiper showed up along the Fox River between Blackhawk F.P. and Tekakwitha Woods F.P. in late September. It frequented the mudflats along the river often associating with the Pectoral Sandpipers. The bike path bridge that crosses the river in this location allowed people very close looks, even looking straight down on the bird at times. The Sharp-Tailed Sandpiper is a rare Illinois visitor that is normally found in Asia and Australia.
