Prothonotary Warblers are almost always seen near bodies of water. Large numbers were seen in 2001 at the Knollwood Boat Launch along the Des Plaines River near Waterfall Glen (click here for directions). Prime habitat for this species can be found at the Morton Arboretum, Maple Grove, Elsen's Hill, and along the larger rivers. In Kane County sites along the Fox River including Les Arends and Ferson Creek Fen are good locations.
