Cattle Egrets are usually seen in muddy fields or select dryer marshes, occasionally with other egrets and herons.  The buffalo fields at FermiLab have been the only somewhat reliable spot to view this species in the past, and sightings have been increasingly sparse in recent years.  Cattle Egrets are extremely rare in early spring through late fall.
